A student was left with multiple injuries in the incident which happened weeks after he started his university degree course.

The 19-year-old had returned home from Salford University and was out with friends.

Two of them waited in a taxi in Bruce Road, Radford, for another friend to join them at around 1am on Sunday, October 27.

The student stepped out of the taxi for a cigarette and was hit by a dark coloured car, possibly a Ford Focus, at the junction with Beake Avenue, leaving him with a broken leg, a broken chest bone and facial injuries.

Anyone with information should call PC Laura Loy on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
