Council apologises after putting road sign in wrong place

Coventry City Council has been forced to apologise after putting up a sign in the wrong road.

The sign in Burnaby Road, on the approach to the junction with Holbrook Lane, directs motorists in either direction down the A444 Phoenix Way.

But it should have been put up half a mile away.

Colin Knight, assistant director of highways at Coventry City Council, said: “We will make sure it is amended as a matter of urgency. We apologise for any confusion that may have been caused.”

Motorist Derek Franklin noticed the error.

He said: “Fortunately if the road numbers are ignored motorists will still be heading in the right direction, but the B4118 is far from an ideal route to access the city centre.

“What is also amazing is this lovely smart expensive road sign recently replaced an older one that contained exactly the same errors.

“Perhaps when this new sign is replaced it might be a case of third time lucky.”

It's our council tax that pays for the muppet responsible for this. He needs sacking! :fuming:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
