Norovirus strikes again at Warwick Hospital

Norovirus has closed down the Squire Ward at Warwick Hospital.



It will not be allowing visiting, until further notice, in order to prevent further spread of the virus to both patients and visitors.

Exceptions made on compassionate grounds where the patient is seriously ill and people are asked to call the hospital prior to such a visit.

Norovirus is a seasonal viral infection which causes vomiting and diarrhoea. It is very infectious and often occurs in outbreaks in communities such as schools, institutions and families. It can be brought into hospitals and cause outbreaks on wards.

It is important to remember that this virus spreads rapidly as a result of contact between individuals. If you have been in contact with, or have had, diarrhoea and vomiting within the last 48 hours, you will be infectious and you should stay away from the hospital. If you are suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting, stay at home and drink plenty of fluids.
