Two women and two children were taken to hospital following a two-car crash in Coventry last night.

Four ambulance crews were called to Fletchamstead Highway, at its junction with Tile Hill Lane, at about 7pm.

A woman in her 20s was freed by firefighters after being trapped in one of the vehicles for almost an hour.

She was taken to Coventry’s University Hospital with head and leg injuries.

Two children in the same car were immobilised using neck collars and spinal boards and taken to the same hospital.

The driver in the second car, a woman in her 40s, was also immobilised for further treatment in hospital.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival at the scene crews found two cars that had been in collision.

“Two passengers, both children, were immobilised using neck collars and spinal boards as a precaution and conveyed to hospital.

“The driver from the second vehicle was also fully immobilised as a precaution and conveyed to Coventry’s University Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
