Man dies after Cubbington crash on New Year's Day

Firefighters were called to the scene after a car hit a tree in Warwickshire, leaving two people trapped.

Two appliances from Leamington Spa were deployed to Welsh Road, Cubbington, when crews were alerted at about 06:25 GMT on New Year's Day.

One person was unaccounted for, a Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said.

She said crews were detained for about half an hour and police and the ambulance service were also there.

Man dies after Cubbington crash on New Year's Day

One man was fatally injured and another hurt in a road accident in Warwickshire on New Year's Day.

The men were travelling in a green Volkswagen Golf on Welsh Road in Cubbington, towards Offchurch, when the vehicle left the road at around 06.15 GMT.

Both the victims were taken to Warwick Hospital where one of them was declared dead. The other was treated for less serious injuries and later released.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
