Coventry mum in masked gang carjacking terror

A masked gang ambushed a terrified Coventry mum and stole her car in a terrifying carjacking attack.



The 26-year-old mum of one was driving home alone after meeting her mother for dinner when she noticed she was being followed by another car.

The victim was driving her boyfriend’s grey Seat Leon FR Turbo near Corpus Christi School in Langbank Avenue, Ernesford Grange last Monday night when she noticed a dark ‘old style’ Ford Fiesta or Escort travelling behind her.

When she pulled up close to her home in nearby Coombe Avenue, Binley the car behind her turned around and stopped.

The victim assumed the driver had dropped someone off in the cul-de-sac but once she was outside the car, the gang pounced.

Armed with what is believed to be a type of cosh or hammer, two men ran to the passenger side of the car, while another ran towards the woman.

One of the men demanded her car keys and when she dropped them she was pushed against the car by one of the masked men.

The men then jumped into her car and sped away from the scene in the stolen Seat at about 10pm.

The woman, who was left badly shaken by the robbery, ran to her home to raise the alarm and the police were called. The victim’s partner, who has cerebral palsy, told the Telegraph he was thankful his girlfriend wasn’t hurt.

He added: “That car was our lifeline, I used it to get to work and my girlfriend used it for leisure.

“We’d only had it for a few weeks. The sting in the tail is I used my motability allowance to help pay for the car.

"I have already put £1,200 on it with a view to buying it at the end of the contract. That is non-refundable.
