A Warwickshire fitness instructor cycled from London to Paris to raise money in memory of her beloved mum.

Nina Mortas, aged 27, of Lincoln Court, Leamington, completed the 270-mile ride in three-and-a-half days in aid of the James Whale Fund For Kidney Cancer.

It followed the death of her mum Gabriela from the disease in January last year, just six days before her 66th birthday.

Nina said the ride from Marble Arch in London to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris was even more poignant because she and Gabriela had visited Paris in 2009 before the illness was diagnosed.

She said: “Mum had never been there before and it was something she had always dreamed of doing so I treated her with a special holiday.

“We did a lot of sightseeing, visited most of the famous places. I had never seen her so happy before, or after.

“We had the time of our lives but sadly little did we both know this was the last trip we would have together.

“This holiday made us both very happy and I feel lucky I had the chance to spend that time with her.”

Fitness instructor Nina, who also works for aerospace firm Lockheed, raised more than £900 for the charity during the ride at the end of June.
