A man suffered serious head injuries after a four-vehicle crash which has closed the southbound stretch of the M6 in Warwickshire.
He was inside a car which collided with a lorry and two vans southbound at junction 1 for Rugby at around 7:20am.
The man – in his 50′s- was unconscious when paramedics arrived at the scene and had to be given emergency treatment before being driven by ambulance to Coventry’s University Hospital.
Three other men, thought to be be inside the vans, suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
The lorry driver and four other people were checked over at the scene but did not need medical help.
The road is still closed southbound between junction 2 for Coventry and the A46 and junction 1, with congestion on to junction 3a for the M6 Toll.
There are delays of one and a half hours at the moment – keep listening to Mercia for the very latest.
