The 35-year old – who is not from the area – is still in hospital in Birmingham over a week after the incident outside the Blue Boar on Watling Street in Mancetter on February 24th.

He was leaving with a female friend just after 8pm when two men started punching and kicking him.

The assault only ended when staff from the bar came to help him.

The victim’s recovering from six hours of surgery on a detached lens in one eye, and also has a possible fractured eye socket, a possible detached retina and bruises to his eyes, ribs, head and ears.

DC Sian Cook from Nuneaton CID is looking for witnesses, and has no description of the attackers.

Anyone with information can call her on 01926 415000 voicemail 10195 extension 3173. You can also call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
