Today’s the last day for people to have their say on Tesco’s appeal against plans for another store in Coventry being turned down.

The chain have had two plans for an Express shop in Coundon rejected by council planners, and are appealing both decisions.

The company are also seeking damages from Coventry Council, for ‘unreasonable behaviour’ when the planning board rejected the second application despite a planning inspector recommending it be approved.

Local people have signed petitions against the scheme on the corner of Grayswood Avenue, claiming it would ruin local businesses nearby and create traffic problems around the busy Holyhead Road.

People can comment on the plans until the end of the day.

Can't see any problem with it myself?

The site is a former garage on a corner with its own access and offroad parking.
The new store will not be in direct competiton with existing businesses.
Personally, I'd welcome a convenience store right on my doorstep.
Would the locals rather have asbos use the derelict plot for all-night drinking sessions instead?
