Members of action group SWORD (Save Weddington: Oppose the Residential Development) have set up a web-page with an online petition, which is attracting support.

Plans for 300 houses to be built on land adjacent to St James Church in Weddington have been drawn up by Sheffield-based Hallam Land Development and were put on display in the church hall.

John Brookes, who manages the SWORD website, said: “We want to send a clear message to the Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council that the people they represent do not want this.

"We’ve had over 2,000 hits on our website, over 400 Facebook friends, and now over 100 signatures on the e-petition.”

The SWORD website is at http://saveweddington.org.uk/ and further information is available on the Facebook page Save Weddington and by contacting info@saveweddington.org.uk
