Warwick University has been boosted amid massive government cutbacks in higher education with the award of a top accreditation for research.
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) has announced the university is to become an accredited Doctoral Training Centre – one of only 21 across the UK.
Warwick will receive extra funding for research by 27 students doing research after their degree.
The award will fund 27 studentships each year for the next five years.
The university wants the work to develop collaboration with government, business and industry and help shape future government policy.
