Complaints have been made that Bedworth town centre looks anything but in bloom. Posts have spread on social media about the lack of planting in flower beds in the town centre, leaving the planters looking barren.

CoventryLive asked Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council about the lack of any signs of flowers, and a spokesman said that the summer planting is on its way. The Town Hall spokesman said that there has been no delay in the planting and that people will start seeing digging action soon.

In fact, they said that just over 4,500 plants will soon be put into the beds across the town centre. "We have currently planted beds within Miners’ Welfare Park, Bedworth Almshouses and Riversley Park, Nuneaton, and will soon be completing the Bedworth town centre beds, which can hold 4,596 plants," the spokesman said.

"So far, we have planted 44,400 plants across the first three sites in Nuneaton and Bedworth. We will be using a variety of annual summer bedding plants which will flower from summer to early autumn, which include Ageratum, Begonia, Lobelia, Salvias, Fuchsia, African Marigolds, Alyssum, Cosmos and chlorophytum (spider plants)."

The spokesman concluded: "We invite everybody to enjoy greenspaces and parks during the summer."
