Bronco (1958-1962)

Tue May 03, 2011 1:25 am

Bronco was a spin-off of 'Cheyenne' when the latter found its star in a contract dispute. Bronco was created to keep 'Cheyenne' going until the money matters got sorted out. When they did, Bronco got his own show. It was usually in a rotation with 'Sugarfoot', and for a while in a three-way with 'Sugarfoot' and 'Cheyenne'. The theme is by Mack David and Jerry Livingston. When the show went into rotation under the 'Cheyenne Show' umbrella title, the closing credits reverted to the 'medley-of-themes' approach used on 'Cheyenne', representing the three (or two) shows then in circulation with each other. The theme song was sung by Hal Hopper very early in season one. It was redone with Jack Halloran's choral group starting with "Freeze Out", the show's 8th episode.
