That's been a standard feature on Rollers since the Silver Spirit was launched in 1980 hasn't it?

I remember in the early 80s when I worked at MIRA a similar method was employed, but it didn't close over the hole as this one.
One of our 'engineers' was most upset when he tried to touch the mascot and it disappeared down into a deep hole.
Sadly, I can't remember just how we re-set it.

Ah yes, that's right.
Shows how long it's been since I saw one in action. Rolls Royce cars were still made by Rolls Royce in those days.
