I would suspect that shot has been 'PhotoShopped' as no one in the foreground is taking any notice. However it does happen as I have seen similar in the Indian Ocean but not with the same elevation.

What gives the first image away is the 90 degree angle at the front and bottom of the ship. Expand your image Dutchman and it is clear that there is some work done around the front and bottom of the ship. I M O the top was the original fake and the bottom one shows that dark right angle has been doctored out. Also, I am almost certain that there is not such a spectator stand there. As I have said none of the spectators are taking any notice of such a remarkable event.
I have seen similar in tropical parts but never off the UK shores.
