Sony has issued a new firmware update for the PlayStation 3.
Director of hardware marketing John Koller has announced that update 3.42 is "minor" and will feature "additional security features".
It is speculated that the security update will counter the upcoming release of piracy tool PSJailbreak.
The mandatory install is available now.
What the so-called 'update' actually does is block people who obtain unauthorised copies of games from connecting online.
