The revamped version of the Wii U platformer has clearly made a splash with fans, adding to the list of titles making a successful transition

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe released last week for fans of the series to either try the classic Wii U game out for the first time in this new package, or revisit it again on the Nintendo Switch. As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, this seems to have made a mark on the Switch fanbase, as it has entered in at the top spot in the UK charts when it comes to physical sales.

To nobody's surprise given the lack of enthusiasm for the console, the Wii U version of this game didn't sell nearly as well as the Switch edition, which sold 56% higher than the original release in November 2013.

Elsewhere in the charts we see a new entry in the form of Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, coming in at number nine with 49% of sales coming from Switch players. 43% bought it on PS4, and the remaining players decided to go with Xbox One as their platform of choice.

For the full top 10 list take a look down below, which includes many of the usual suspects like FIFA 19 and Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as another reappearance by Grand Theft Auto V.

With Resident Evil 2's remake landing next week, can that top the charts?

1. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe / Nintendo
2. FIFA 19 / EA Sports
3. Red Dead Redemption 2 / Rockstar
4. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 / Activision
5. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate / Nintendo
6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe / Nintendo
7. Battlefield V / EA
8. Grand Theft Auto V / Rockstar
9. Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition / Bandai Namco
10. Forza Horizon 4 / Microsoft
