If you were put off by last year's Star Wars Battlefront II and all the loot box and microtransaction nonsense surrounding it, you'll be glad to know that the original BF II is making a comeback.

The Xbox version of the 2005 classic is soon going to be playable on Xbox One consoles, as part of Microsoft's next wave of backwards compatibility hits.

On April 17, the games giant will (re)release Blinx the Time Sweeper, Breakdown, Conker: Live & Reloaded, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Hunter: The Reckoning, Jade Empire, Panzer Dragoon Orta and SSX 3.

If that's not a solid collection, April 26 will see Microsoft drop Destroy All Humans!, Full Spectrum Warrior, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, MX Unleashed, Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory (in Europe, at least), Star Wars Battlefront I and II, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Jedi Starfighter, Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords and Republic Commando.

The livestream showed off comparison videos of how the game looked on the original hardware versus how it looks now, and the results are pretty amazing. The resolution gets a boost to HD, with Jade Empire in particular looking so much more colourful. The games will look even prettier on Xbox One X, if you've got one.

The best bit, of course, is if you've got the old discs then you just pop them in your new console and enjoy the upgrades, free of charge.

Hopefully all these games will tide you over until the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story on May 25.
