Far Cry 5 tops the UK charts with series-best week one sales

13 is lucky for Ubisoft, it would seem

Far Cry 5 has marched straight to the top of the UK charts after the strongest launch in the history of the series (in the UK, at least). Taking advantage of a relatively meager lineup of new titles during the springtime, Ubisoft's game has enjoyed a strong critical and commercial release, so much so that the fifth core entry in the series is the best-selling launch in 'week 13' ever, displacing previous record holder Bioshock: Infinite. Not bad going.

Further down the charts we see a little movement, with Xbox (and Windows 10 PC) exclusive Sea of Thieves sinking down to third, while A Way Out is stuck in the top ten, albeit it down to seventh thanks to a 61% drop in sales. Detective Pikachu enjoyed a much stronger second week according to Games Industry, although not strong enough for a top ten finish (it's up to 15th from 23rd).

In general, the top ten this week sees strong sales for a number of big IPs that were discounted in time for the Easter holidays:

1. Far Cry 5 / Ubisoft
2. FIFA 18 / EA
3. Sea of Thieves/ Microsoft
4. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe / Nintendo
5. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds / Microsoft
6. Call of Duty: WWII / Activision
7. A Way Out / EA
8. Assassin's Creed Origins / Ubisoft
9. Forza Motorsport 7 / Microsoft
10. Grand Theft Auto V / Take-Two
