Charts: FIFA 18 pushes Destiny out of first place

Mon Oct 02, 2017 4:15 pm

Another unsurprisingly strong debut for FIFA

FIFA is a mammoth yearly franchise, especially in the UK, so it's no surprise that FIFA 18 has debuted at the top of the UK charts, knocking Destiny 2 off the top spot and down to second place just behind it.

There are no other debuts in the top 10 this week, but Forza Horizon 3 has jumped up to third place, perhaps in anticipation for Forza Motorsport 7's entry into the charts, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe slithers into number 10 from last week's 11th place.

Look at the top 10 in full down below:

1. FIFA 18 / EA Sports
2. Destiny 2 / Activision
3. Forza Horizon 3 / Microsoft
4. NBA 2K18 / 2K
5. Grand Theft Auto V / Rockstar
6. Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy / Activision
7. Project Cars 2 / Bandai Namco Entertainment
8. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy / Sony
9. Lego Worlds / Warner Bros. Interactive
10. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe / Nintendo

FIFA 18 Switch sales count for less than 3% of overall UK figure

We reported earlier today that FIFA 18 has topped the UK charts, but more detailed reports on the game have revealed some interesting information about which platforms have made this sale figure possible.

If this was any other year, the fact that the PS4 and Xbox One versions account for 97% of the sales units wouldn't be remarkable, except that this year the game has been released for Nintendo Switch as well (you can find our review of this specific edition here). This means that the Switch didn't come close to being the preferred option for many gamers, most of whom went for PS4 - 60% of them in fact, up from 53% last year.
