The fully playable beta contains the main career mode and 'Football Manager Classic', although aspects are likely to change when the game launches at the end of the month.

Access to the beta ends on November 4, but saved data can be carried over to the final game, regardless of when customers make the upgrade.

Fans can pre-order the game now to receive instant access to the beta, which is available with a download code sent by retailers.

A full list of participating retailers can be found on the Football Manager website.

The upcoming sequel is claimed to be the "most authentic" yet, with over 1,000 new features and changes.

Among the improvements, players will be able to better tweak match-day tactics using the game's new unified system.

Other changes include improved match reporting on aggregate-related victories, updated salary caps for MLS and A-League, and additional contract details in the player profile screen.

Football Manager 2014 will be available on October 31 for PC, Mac and Linux.
