Craziest song ever to come out of Coventry?

Wed Feb 29, 2012 8:06 am

From 1979. Nigel & Rob (Lieutenant Pigeon) took it to their contact at Decca records. While they played it to him he shuffled lots of papers and looked down at his desk a lot. Then the phone rang. With the track still playing, he answered the call. Nigel recalls the Decca chap's side of the conversation, "Can you hear that?!" "Erm, yes, it's Lieutenant Pigeon, erm, yes, I know, erm, okay, I'll turn it down!" Suffice to say there was no interest from Decca in releasing it! :rolling:

Anyway, 33 years later Nige asked me to make a video for it so here it is, featuring a lot of Daisy the Pug who my partner's mum & dad have just got from the RSPCA.

Have also forwarded the track to "GlamRacket" who do 1970's disco's in London and hopefully they will come up with a video as well.

What would Boney M, Blondie and Elvis Costello make of it I wonder?

Vic Minett played some of it on her show this afternoon (BBC C&W) and it's going down a storm on Dogs Trust facebook page - in just 1 hour - 155 likes, 10 comments and 53 shares! I'll suggest to the band that they try and link in with Dogs Trust and release it as a fundraising single for them.
