Dame Shirley Bassey has been informed by police that there was "no criminal act" involved in the death of her 21-year-old daughter.
The legendary singer urged authorities to re-examine the apparent suicide of Samantha Novak, whose body was found floating in a river in 1985, during a Guardian interview last year, noting that her daughter suffered no broken bones after supposedly jumping from a bridge and had no water in her lungs.
According to Contactmusic, detectives launched fresh inquiries into the case in March after Penny Beale, whose daughter was murdered by her partner Michael Moffat in 2001, claimed that he had also confessed to killing Novak before receiving an 11-year jail sentence.
However, Detective Inspector Ed Heath has now stated: "All lines of inquiry have been followed. This concluded that there is no evidence of any criminal act involved."
