Tickets for the event, held in War Memorial Park, Coventry, went on sale from 07:00 BST on Wednesday.

Other acts announced for the festival include Katy B, The Feeling and Craig Charles.

The festival will be held in September for a second year to accommodate the Radio 1 Big Weekend event.

Grennan, who has been recovering from an "unprovoked attack" in New York earlier this month, will headline on the Saturday.

His track Little Bit of Love was nominated for song of the year at this year's Brit Awards.

The Libertines will be the main act on Friday while Bananarama perform on Sunday.

Coventry acts taking part include indie group Idle Noise, Ukrainian band Cov Kozaks and Jeff "Man" Parris.

Reflection presents Daylight Robbery will also put on a show celebrating the city's dance and drum and bass heritage, the city council said.

Andy Williams, the local authority's director of culture, said more artists would be revealed in the future.

"It's shaping up to be another fantastic festival and we'll have more exciting announcements in the months to come too," he said.

The event will also include stalls, a funfair and other entertainers.

More than 54,000 tickets were sold for the festival in 2021.

Two new acts have been announced today (May 31) for Coventry's Godiva festival. The event will take place at the start of September and already has huge names as part of the line-up.

The Libertines, Tom Grennan and Bananarama have already been revealed as headliners. They will be joined by the likes of Neville Staple, Gracey and A1 x J1.

And this morning, indie rock band The Subways and Coventry teenager Caitlin McCarthy have been announced as extra acts for the main stage. The event at the War Memorial Park will take place from Friday, September 2 until Sunday, September 4.

The Subways, who first performed at Godiva in 2016, will return on the Saturday. Formed in 2005, their high-octane and explosive performances have earned them a reputation as one of the best bands to see live.

Caitlin McCarthy will perform on the main stage on Sunday. The 17-year-old singer-songwriter will be a familiar face to anyone who has closely followed the Coventry music scene in recent years, with performances at the HMV Empire and The Arches already under her belt.

Councillor Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council and Cabinet Member for Events said: "We’re delighted to be able to add these two new great acts to this year’s line-up. Our aim with Godiva has always been to have acts that have diverse musical styles that appeal to all the family.

"With the addition of these two artists I’m happy to say that this year’s line-up continues that trend. We remain conscious of the financial pressures that many in our city face. So, I encourage everyone to take advantage of the early bird prices, save some money and to get their tickets as soon as they can.”

Godiva will follow in the footsteps of Radio 1's Big Weekend which took over the War Memorial Park over the weekend. Ten of thousands of music fans flocked through the gates to see performances from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sam Fender, Tom Grennan and Calvin Harris.
