A huge outdoor music festival is set to take place in Coventry this summer - with some big name artists confirmed today.

The Coombe Weekender, a two day multi-stage music event is set to take part in the grounds of Coombe Abbey over the weekend of August 3-4.

Promoted by Midlive Entertainments Group, the first event of its kind will see big name acts performing in Coventry - with rock stars The Libertines announced as the headline act for the Saturday of the event.

They are just one of a number of acts announced today for Saturday August 3 - the rock/indie day of the festival.

The second day meanwhile will be more suited for families - with Sigala, and Toploader among some of the names announced.

The name at the top of the lineup is The Libertines, a London based rock group who are making a rare live performance - and doing so in Coventry.

With 20 years of hits to play, the group are well suited to top the bill, in what is currently their only UK festival - according to their website.

Singer-songwriter Tom Grennan is another name on the main stage bill, along with bands Circa Waves, Reverend and the Makers, The Futureheads and Good Cop, Bad Cop.

Three local bands will also get a huge opportunity to perform before crowds of up to 20,000 at the event - opening the main stage.

The local bands are Athens, Candid and BLVFF.

Away from the main stage music lovers will be able to go into the Big Top, the second stage of music.

The lineup for this is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Day two sees Sigala, Toploader and more on main stage with Crazy P Soundsystem, Joey Negro plus more in The Big Top.

Again, more acts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, but away from the music itself, there is plenty on offer.

The organisers have confirmed that the hugely popular Raver Tots will be on site - a dance party for kids of all ages.

There will be ample food and drink available at what is being described as a "food village" - said to be hosting food from all corners of the globe.

Taking place on the grounds outside Coombe Abbey hotel, organisers have revealed they have been keen to avoid traffic congestion in and around the Binley Woods area.

To get around the often controversial subject of parking at Coombe Country Park, they are offering shuttle bus services from various points in the city.

What's more, the use of the shuttle service is set to be included in the price of the ticket .

Day tickets start at £29.50 and weekend at £70 with family and VIP tickets also available.
