Britain's Got Talent finalist's group will play special city performance

A Coventry Britain’s Got Talent finalist will bring her nostalgic wartime-style choir back to the city for a special performance



The D-Day Darlings won the hearts of the country when they competed in the ITV television talent competition.

Now members of the group will be making their way back to Coombe Abbey Hotel – a venue they have visited before – for a remembrance performance on Sunday, November 11.

One of the members, Emily Jane Brooks, is from Coventry and is a member of Coombe Abbey’s Medieval Banquet cast – in which members play out a 16th century court drama.

They will be hosting ‘Afternoon Tea with the D-Day Darlings’ in the marquee and guests will be treated to an event filled with songs from a bygone era – something they have become renowned for.

The group gave an emotional performance in the final which was seen by millions and brought many to tears when they sang Dame Vera Lynn’s The White Cliffs of Dover and ex-servicemen joined them on stage.

They gained rave reviews from the judges including Amanda Holden and David Walliams for their performance.

Ron Terry, general manager of the hotel, is pleased the group did so well in the contest.

He said: “The D-Day Darlings are hugely talented and we have had a wonderful relationship with them for many years.

“It really is fantastic they are getting so much recognition for their talents and it is thoroughly deserved.

“They always put on an amazing show and I’m sure this one in November will delight their fans.”

Formed in 2008, the D-Day Darlings sing wartime harmonies that helped to keep Britain smiling through dark times and they perform popular World War II songs such as We’ll Meet Again, I’ll Be Seeing You, Land of Hope and Glory, and Bless Em’ All.

Afternoon Tea with the D-Day Darlings will start at 3pm and will include a delicious menu of sandwiches and an array of desserts before the group performs.
