The band has cancelled its forthcoming appearance at the highly anticipated festival due to ‘unforeseen health concerns and on doctor’s orders.’

The event will take place on the May Bank Holiday, May 27 and 28, at the War Memorial Park.

The chart-topping group has also rescheduled its appearance at Birmingham’s Genting Arena.

Its UK and Ireland tour was originally scheduled for to begin on April 27.

The Genting Arena concert will now go ahead on February 12 next year.

The bands promoters said: “Tears for Fears have been forced to postpone their forthcoming sold out UK and Ireland arena tour due to unforeseen health concerns and on doctor’s orders.

“The tour, due to start April 27 has been rescheduled for early next year.

“We apologise to fans and are extremely sorry for any inconvenience caused.

“They look forward to working on finishing material for their first new album in fourteen years, with the hope of releasing it this autumn.”

BBC Music tweeted in response: “As a result of the postponements, Tears For Fears will no longer go ahead with their scheduled appearance at BBC Music’s The Biggest Weekend next month. We wish them a full and speedy recovery.”

For the Genting Arena concert, customers who already have tickets will be issued with new tickets by their point of purchase.

Promoters say if you are unable to attend the rescheduled date, please contact your point of purchase for a refund by Sunday, May 13.
