After the enormous successes of Dance For Life 2016 and 2017 Peter Kay has announced brand new dates for 2018 for Dance For Life, with all of the profits going to Cancer Research UK.

Peter said of the events "I’ve honestly never had so much fun as I had working on Dance For Life. The atmosphere was so happy and positive; it really is a great way to raise money for the worthiest of causes. All people have to do is turn up and dance.

“I’d also like to encourage people to get themselves sponsored via JustGiving.com where a special Dance For Life team page has been set up.”

Nick Eastwood, Chief Executive of the Wasps Group, said: “Peter Kay sells out his shows across the country which is no surprise since he is extremely funny and his Dance For Life shows are a fantastic way of raising money for a great charity as well as having an enjoyable night.”

A spokesperson for the event organisers SJM Concerts said: “We are so excited to be involved again with Peter’s Dance For Life shows, the previous nights were such an achievement and so unique, we can’t wait to bring the party to new venues.”

Claire Rowney, director of Stand Up To Cancer at Cancer Research UK, said: “We are so grateful to Peter for hosting his epic Dance For Life events to raise money, we need as many people as possible to join Peter and kick cancer’s ass by dancing the night away. The money that is raised from the events will fund vital research so that we can save more lives, more quickly.”

Dance For Life comes to Coventry's Ricoh Arena from January 26 to January 27, 2018.

Tickets are £28.50 each and can be bought individually or in groups of any number. Fancy dress is optional.

Participants can also set up individual Dance For Life pages to get sponsored for their own dance-a-thon challenges, whether in support or memory of friends and family, or simply to help raise even more money for Cancer Research UK. Peter’s fundraising team can be joined at https://www.justgiving.com/teams/danceforlife2018

Peter Kay pulls out of live tour

Postby rebbonk » Wed Dec 13, 2017 2:00 pm

One of Birmingham’s most eagerly anticipated entertainment events has had to be scrapped after comedian Peter Kay’s sudden cancellation of his first live tour for eight years due to “unforeseen family circumstances”.

The comedian was due to kick off the live tour in Birmingham next April, going on to headline an unprecedented 10-night residency at Genting Arena.

Such was the demand for tickets that an additional two nights were due to take place at sister venue, Arena Birmingham.

However, the event has now been cancelled after the comedian issued a statement saying: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects. This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance For Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.

“My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first.
“I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media. I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again I’m very sorry.”

The NEC Group, which owns both Arena Birmingham and Genting Arena, said any customers who had bought show tickets through its Ticket Factory booking service, would automatically receive a refund.

“The team will be working hard to process these within the next 48 hours, however we are advising customers to allow at least an extra five working days for their bank to process this before contacting the Ticket Factory team direct,” it said.

“If customers bought ticket from another ticket agent, we advise they contact their original point of purchase with their order number.”

The Genting Arena dates were: April 22, 23, 27, 28 and May 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7.

The additional dates at Arena Birmingham were May 24 and 25.

Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
