A new nightclub is set to open in Coventry tonight - and students aren't welcome.

Catch Twenty Two will open its doors to Christmas revellers bringing "style and swag" to the city centre.

Based in the old Dog and Trumpet, the Hertford Street Club is the sister venue of Bayley Lane Kitchen and Cocktails, which was opened by Unicorn Bars nearly ten months previously.

The minds behind the club wanted to create a venue for locals to enjoy, with 'chic furniture' and 'VIP hostessing areas', as opposed to members of the 'student community'.

General manager, Kash Hayer, said: “We’ve made a very conscious decision to cater for the people outside of the student community, and provide an experience that everyone can enjoy.

"Focusing on getting the experience absolutely spot on and getting a good feel for the place are absolute priorities for us right now."

They explained that the decision to open the bar was based off the success of the independent kitchen and cocktail bar in Bayley Lane.

Kash said: “Catch Twenty Two is going to bring a great addition to Coventry’s nightlife scene.

“It was a big step to go with this venue, but the feedback on Bayley Lane Kitchen and Cocktails has been phenomenal.

"With it being just around the corner from Catch Twenty Two, and with the brilliant prospects for the area for nightlife, we took the leap."

He added: “As always when opening venues, there are definitely butterflies. But I’m confident that people living in the Coventry area will grow to love this place.

"I hope they’ll be won over from Friday onwards.”

Doors to the venue will open from 8pm tonight with a limited umber of "free guest list" places on offer.

How they fare will be interesting.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
