Justin Bieber claims 2016's first number one single

He was beaten by the NHS choir to last week's Christmas number one, but Justin Bieber is back on top of the singles chart for New Year's Day with 'Love Yourself'.


The singer records the first number one of the year with the track, and occupies three places in the top five.

Bieber's single 'Sorry' is back up to 2 and Adele's 'Hello' is at 3. Bieber's 'What Do You Mean' follows at 4, while Grace ft. G-Eazy rounds out the top five with 'You Don't Own Me'.

Elsewhere, Fleur East's 'Sax' climbs eight places to 6 and MNEK & Zara Larsson's 'Never Forget You' climbs to 10.

Little Mix's 'Love Me Like You' climbs from 20 to 11, and Shawn Mendes' 'Stitches' is up 13 places to 12.

A host of further tracks also climbed the charts to re-enter the top 40, including Walk The Moon's 'Shut Up & Dance' (27), R City's 'Locked Away' (28), Little Mix's 'Black Magic' (30), One Direction's 'Drag Me Down' (31) and Ariana Grande's 'Focus' (35).
