Gareth Malone and his All Star Choir have debuted at number one with their official Children in Need track 'Wake Me Up'.

The Avicii cover, which features celebrities including Jo Brand, Craig Revel Horwood, Linda Robson and Mel Giedroyc, has sold over 120,000 units in the last seven days and is also the most physically purchased single of the week.

'Wake Me Up' is Malone's third number one single following his 2013 Christmas number one with the Military Wives' 'Wherever You Are' and Gary Barlow's Diamond Jubilee track 'Sing'.

Malone said of the feat: "It feels really good to be number one for the third time. A hat trick! I'm really really happy about it.

"And to have it for Children In Need is very special. We've raised massive amounts of money through this single and it's just wonderful!"

Ed Sheeran holds on to the number two spot with 'Thinking Out Loud', which has set a record for the most ever audio streams in a week.

One Direction jump six places up the charts to number three with 'Steal My Girl' after performing the track on The X Factor last week and on Children in Need on Friday.

Cheryl drops from the number one spot to number four with her latest single 'I Don't Care', while Meghan Trainor falls two places to number five with 'All About That Bass'.

Australian duo The Veronicas enter the Official Singles Chart for the first time in five years with 'You Ruin Me', which debuts at number eight. Sam Smith's new single 'Like I Can' enters the chart at number nine.

Taylor Swift climbs 98 places up to number 11 with 'Blank Space' following the release of its official video this week, while Kendrick Lamar wins his first UK Top 40 hit with 'I', which enters at number 20.

Idina Menzel's 'Let It Go', the smash hit Frozen single, re-enters the Top 40 at number 28.

BBC Music's track 'God Only Knows', which features a number of celebrities, climbs 131 places to number 39.
