Big Boro Festival a huge hit with music fans

The Big Boro Festival was a huge hit with fans turning out to enjoy the music.

From midday, fans poured into Nuneaton Town Football Stadium to hear songs from Scouting for Girls, The Twang and a host of others.

There were two stages in the sports ground, with both opening at midday.

Michelle Hewitt, a 43-year-old entrepreneur from Nuneaton was enjoying the music with her family.

She said: “For us, it was a local event and we wanted to support it in the hope that it’ll grow.

“It’s ideal for our two teenagers.

“We arrived early because we wanted to see all the new stuff and the local bands as well as Scouting for Girls later on.

“We’re planning to stay on until 11.30pm – or until we’ve seen the bar off!”

There was more than just music on offer, as families marvelled at fire breathers and circus performers and enjoyed funfair rides, dance off and a martial arts display.

Hinckley housewife Rita White had won a set of tickets from Oak FM, and had brought her family along with her.

She said: “I was just so impressed when I heard which bands were playing.

“I’ve never heard of something like this going on in Nuneaton.”

Holbrooks’ DJ Lisa Lashes was the last to appear on the main stage.

The 43-year-old has headlined international festivals such as Global Gathering and Creamfields.

The After Party rooms rounded off the festival, with the music coming to an end at 4am.

Kyle Perry, a former Nuneaton striker, helped organise the event: He said: “It’s going really well and we’re expecting more and more people to arrive throughout the evening.

“We want to put on big bands and showcase local talent. We’ve gone all out on the incredible sound system and the visuals, so it looks and sounds really special.”
