FOUNDER of The Special Jerry Dammers is to play a rare gig in his home city.

The former student at King Henry VIII School and the old Lanchester Polytechnic - will perform a DJ set with long-time collaborator Chris Rhythm Doctor at The Dog in Hertford Street on Saturday, August 3.

The venue - previously known as the Dog & Trumpet - opened in March and has already hosted Gilles Peterson, Goldie and Craig Charles.

Kate Walters said: "We’re thrilled to be presenting Jerry Dammers to a new audience in Coventry. In the years since The Specials he’s become one of the most inventive and influential musicians working in the UK."

Tickets in advance £6 and £8 on the door.
