Owl City climb to No. 1 with 'Fireflies'

Owl City - a.k.a. American synth-pop singer-songwriter Adam Young - has scored his first UK number one.

The single 'Fireflies', which is taken from his third album Ocean Eyes, climbed up from number two to topple Iyaz from the top spot.

'Fireflies' is already number one in Ireland, Australia, Denmark and Holland. It topped the US Billboard chart last year and has broken into the top 20 in nine other territories.

Elsewhere in the chart, Example's 'Won't Go Quietly' entered at number six while JLS climbed up 22 places to number ten with 'One Shot'.

Alexandra Burke climbed up two places to number eight with 'Broken Heels', while the cast of Glee jumped up to number three with their rendition of 'Don't Stop Believin'.

However, Florence and the Machine fell out of the top ten to number 17 with 'You've Got The Love', while Plan B's 'Stay Too Long' dropped nine places to number 18.
