The earthquake in Japan has moved a host of Coventry musicians to band together to stage a charity concert in the city centre tonight.

Local music promoter Tony Emerton was so touched by the tragic pictures he saw on his television that he decided to organise his own Help Japan gig to raise much needed funds to help the victims.

And in no time he had a fully fledged line-up boasting no less than eight homegrown acts – all offering their time and talent to support the cause.

The show is being held at Taylor John’s bar and music club at the city’s Canal Basin, starting at 7.30pm.

Tony said: “We’ve had a really encouraging response.

“It’s not just regulars who follow the local music scene. I think a lot of people have been attracted by the cause – they have seen the posters around town and given us a call.

“We’re hoping we can fill the venue as close to capacity as possible.”

Tonight’s line-up features Huffy; The Moonbears; The Mills; The Pristines; Fight On The Pier; The Sequins; The Pockets and The Loaded.
