Reggae legends UB40 will transform the Skydome arena into a concert venue later this month when they play their first gig there - but not everyone is happy.

It appears there will be in fact TWO UB40 groups touring over the next few weeks - with frontman Ali Campbell taking on Birmingham’s Barclaycard arena tonight with original bandmates Astro and Mickey Virtue, and his brothers playing the Skydome on May 20.

The ‘other UB40’ boasts Ali’s brothers Robin and Duncan, and fellow bandmates Brian Travers, Earl Falconer, Jimmy Brown and Norman Hassan.

Coventry’s UB40 fans clearly aren’t too upset by the lead singer’s omission from the Skydome gig, as it’s already nearly sold out, with limited tickets available.

Fans hope it will be third time lucky for them to see part of the legendary group perform in the heart of the city, as in previous years they have cancelled two gigs that were also scheduled for the Skydome.

The previous cancellation in September 2013 was due to drummer Jimmy Brown suffering repetitive strain injury.

The band will warm up for the Coventry gig with a performance in Qatar at a hotel in Doha.

Standing and seated tickets are available by calling the Planet Ice Coventry box office on 02476 630 693 or from ticketmaster.co.uk
