Singer Ian Brown will play at HMV Coventry Empire, it has been announced. The Stone Roses legend has revealed the gig as part of two 'intimate' UK dates for May. It comes after his sell-out solo tour last year - and before headline appearances later this year.

He will be performing at HMV Empire Coventry on Wednesday, May 24 this year, as well as the day before at the Tramshed in Cardiff on May 23. These new dates will come just before his headline appearances at ‘Live At The Big Top’ in Warrington as part of the Neighbourhood Weekender Festival on Friday, May 26 and In Between Days at Times Square in Newcastle on Saturday, May 27.

Brown was the lead singer of the iconic indie band The Stone Roses. Following their split in 1996, he began a solo career, and has so far released seven studio albums, a greatest hits compilation, a remix album, an 11-disc box set titled Collection, as well as 19 singles.

He returned to singing for the Stone Roses in 2011, although this did not spell the end of his solo endeavours. He released First World Problems through Virgin/EMI Records in October 2018.

Tickets for the Coventry show will go on sale Friday, March 31 at 9.30am. You can buy tickets online.
