Martin Garrix has beaten Lily Allen to score his first UK number one single with 'Animals'.
The 17-year-old Dutch DJ has become the second youngest artist to top the Official Singles Chart this year, following on from 16-year-old New Zealander Lorde.
Garrix told OfficialCharts.com: "I didn't expect this success at all! I made 'Animals' as a club record and seeing it chart so high worldwide and especially a number one in the UK was really beyond my expectations. I will definitely celebrate this with my parents, friends and at school."
Garrix had tough competition, as this week Allen released her cover of Keane's 'Somewhere Only We Know' - the track featured on this year's Christmas advert for retailer John Lewis.
According to the Official Charts Company, Allen's rendition - which charts at number two this week - sold only 12,000 fewer copies than Garrix.
The original version by Keane has also re-entered the charts and places at number 29.
Completing the top five singles are Ellie Goulding with Children in Need song 'How Will I Love You?' at number three and Eminem's 'The Monster' (feat. Rihanna) at four, while Little Mix take the fifth spot with 'Move'.
With new entries, Lady Gaga and R Kelly debut at number nine with 'Do What U Want', Robbie Williams comes in at 10 with 'Go Gentle' and The Poppy Girls land at 13 with their cover of Regina Spektor's 'The Call (No Need To Say Goodbye)'.
The track has been released as part of the Royal British Legion's annual Poppy Appeal.
Meanwhile, Celine Dion - who performed on The X Factor last weekend - earns her highest-charting single in the UK in over a decade as 'Loved Me Back To Life' debuts at number 14. Justin Bieber's 'All Bad' enters the chart at 34, giving the star his sixth Top 40 hit in as many weeks.
