The Coventry radio station has run out of cash and will shut next month unless new advertising and sponsorship deals can be secured.

Based in Hillfields, it broadcasts for eight hours a day across Coventry, Warwickshire, parts of Birmingham, and also to the world via the internet.

As well as broadcasting a range of shows the station also supports young people by training them as station volunteers.

Station manager Gino Shankle said it would be a big loss for the region if the station – which still has three years left to run on its licence – was taken off the air.

“It would be a shame to give it up now after so many years of very hard work supporting our young people and the rest of our community,” he said.

The station targets people outside the mainstream and regularly broadcasts in Turkish, Kurdish, Polish, Punjabi, Hindi/Urdu, French and African languages.
