Coventry kid Vince Hill tops Midday Variety Show at Belgrade

Singing legend Vince Hill returned home to Coventry with a song in his heart.

The 76-year-old topped the bill at the Midday Variety Show at the Belgrade Theatre and was given a warm welcome by the packed city audience.

Vince joked: “It’s great to be back at the Belgrade.

“The last time I was here was in 1994 so I would like to thank the management for the return engagement.”

Vince left Coventry more than 50 years ago, but is still proud of his city roots.

He said: “I was really thrilled to be included on Coventry’s Walk Of Fame. It meant a lot to me. I’ll always be a Coventry lad at heart.”

The entertainer topped the chart with songs like Edelweiss from The Sound Of Music and Roses Of Picardy during his showbusiness career .

He earned a national and international reputation with hit records, prestigious concerts and TV and radio series.

He also toured America several times and performed at nearly every major venue in the world from the Sydney Opera House and London’s Royal Albert Hall to the London Palladium.
