Adrenaline-fuelled stunt action will meet breathtaking cirque style artistry when Cirque Berserk heads to the Belgrade Theatre this season.

Now in its fifth thrilling year, this jaw-dropping spectacular arrives in Coventry in time to celebrate the 250th anniversary of circus, running at the Belgrade 26-28 July.

Combining traditional acts with fresh, contemporary feats, Cirque Berserk pays tribute to the rich 250-year history of circus, while bringing it bang up to date for the 21st century.

Expect heart-stopping thrills as you witness the world’s most hair-raising circus act – the legendary motorcycle “Globe of Death” – as well as displays of astonishing skill from a talented and truly international group of performers, comprising over 30 acrobats, aerialists, dancers, drummers, jugglers and daredevil stuntmen.

Marked by travelling companies and organisations across the UK and overseas, this year’s anniversary celebrations commemorate 250 years since Philip Astley began his career as an entertainment impresario.

After opening his own riding school at London’s Halfpenny Hatch, he put on displays of trick riding, later expanding his shows to encompass a range of acrobatic and comedic entertainments.

Today, the hugely successful Zippos Circus continue to breathe fresh life into the form, with this “anarchic and outrageous, “death-defying” show. Described as being “like Cirque du Soleil on steroids”, this lavish, large-scale production is guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages.

Cirque Berserk runs at the Belgrade Theatre Coventry 26-28 July.
