A 'Beautiful Thing' to grace the stage

An award-winning theatre company is gearing up for it's latest production.

Sudden Impulse Theatre Company is renowned for bringing quality theatre to local audiences and its next performance is set to be no exception.

It is the company's tenth anniversary year and to continue the celebrations it is bringing a gritty romance to the stage - 'Beautiful Thing'.

This production has been a hit both on the silver screen and on the stage, having graced London's famed West End for more than 20 years.

Now local audiences will now be able to enjoy the show in all its beauty when it hits the stage at the Abbey Theatre in Nuneaton next week.

A plethora of talented local actors and actresses will be taking part in the show, which combines some challenging subject matters and hilarious comedy.

Kay Sanders takes on the role of single mum Sandra, whose on-stage son Jamie is bulled at school. The role sees Sandra move the audience from laughter to concern, in a moving and complex portrayal of the hardships of life as a single mother.

Mike Chappell plays Sandra's hippy boyfriend Tony, a part played in the film version by Nuneaton-born actor Ben Daniels.

The role of classmate Ste, is being played by talented young Nuneaton actor Sam Hudso, who has recently starred in the recent hits 'The History Boys' and 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest'.

They are joined by two talented newcomers to the company Ollie Topp as Jamie and Ellie Ward as Leah.

A 'Beautiful Thing' will be appearing at the Abbey Theatre, based in Pool Bank Street, from Wednesday, July 2 until Saturday, July 5.
