Open evening at Coventry's new Albany Theatre

People can see the newly refurbished Albany Theatre at an open evening next week.



The theatre – formerly known as the Butts or College Theatre – closed its doors in 2009 but is due to reopen at the start of next month after work by an army of volunteers.

An Open Forum takes place on Wednesday January 16 from 7.30pm for those wishing to see the results of the hard work.

Now managed by The Albany Theatre Trust, the revamped 1930s art deco playhouse will present a wide range of events.

Trust chairman, David Meredith, said: “First of all we’ll be welcoming back all the local amateur show societies for whom The Albany Theatre has been home for generations, but we’ll also be hosting touring companies, music nights and dance shows – and aiming to cater for all sectors of our vibrant community.”
