Coventry over-50s proved age has no barrier when they took part in a stage production at the Belgrade Theatre.

They were involved in a play called Shine On, which saw characters reflect on their lives and explore issues such as heritage, regeneration and age.

They also took part in workshops and discussions about health and well-being.

The event was organised by the Belgrade to mark International Older People’s Week which runs until Monday.

Christine Ford, who lives in the city centre, said: “I thought it was a really exciting day and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

“We’ve gained confidence and friendship from participating in Shine On, and it gets us out of the house.”

Antonia Beck, director of Shine On, said: “The event gave us the opportunity to contribute to discussions surrounding the arts, health and well-being.

“After the fantastic response from audiences to the Shine On production earlier this year, we are also thrilled to be presenting a workshop version of the play as part of the event.”
