Song, drama, dance and comedy are on offer as performers from the Priory Theatre bring the Broadway show to the Kenilworth stage.

The contemporary view of the life of Jesus won an Emmy for the musical score, and local performer Chris Smith makes his Priory debut tonight as Jesus with Douglas Gilbey as Judas.

Director Dean Foy says: “I am blessed with a cast of 12 consummate performers – all accomplished in their own right and collectively a theatrical tour de course.”

The family-friendly show featured Jeremy Irons and Marti Webb in the original London cast and David Essex played Jesus.

Day By Day from the musical reached number 13 on the Billboard pop singles chart in 1972.

Godspell opens tonight and runs until April 2.
