Another stirring comeback secures point at Blackburn RoversRecent history would suggest that the opening half of games are not Coventry City's specialty, but they are making a habit of fighting their way back into games as they came from behind to draw 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers.
The opening 20 minutes were devoid of any clear chances until Ben Sheaf tested the Rovers goalkeeper. The midfielder received the ball on the edge of the area from a cleared corner and cut onto his right foot before whipping it towards the bottom corner, but Thomas Kaminski was equal to it.
The action began to liven up at this point as just moments later wing-back Ryan Nyambe cut inside to curl in a fantastic effort with his left, but Simon Moore made a great save to keep things level.
Tyler Walker had a chance to give City the lead in response three minutes later, but Kaminski made another stop. The ball fell to Liam Kelly, but he could only direct the ball narrowly wide.
Six minutes before the interval, Joe Rothwell opened the scoring after completing a one-two with Sam Gallagher, before dinking the goalkeeping and finishing into the net.
The roles were reversed for the second goal, as Rothwell provided a cut-back for Gallagher, who fired the ball the ball into the top corner to make it 2-0 to the hosts.
For the third game in a row City found themselves behind at half-time, but just as they did against Fulham before the international break they showed both resilience and class to get back in the game.
On the hour mark Callum O'Hare won possession before playing it out wide to full back Todd Kane, whose cross was turned into the net by Walker.
Less than ten minutes later the Sky Blues found an equaliser through a mixture of hard graft and good fortune, as Viktor Gyokeres shrugged off several challenges before laying it off to Kelly, whose effort hit the post and went in off Kaminski for an own goal.
That's how it ended as Coventry dropped to third in the Championship table with Fulham pipping them on goal difference following their 4-1 win over QPR earlier in the day.
