Midfielder Lee Carsley has agreed to join Coventry City on a one-year deal and he will be in the squad to face Walsall in a friendly tomorrow.
Carsley, 36, will return to the Sky Blues from Birmingham City, whom he helped get promoted back to the Premier League.
He played for Coventry City between 2000 and 2002 after starting his career at Derby County before joining Blackburn Rovers.
After leaving Highfield Road, he went on to have a successful spell with Everton before signing for Birmingham City.
Sky Blues manager Aidy Boothroyd said he was delighted to bring the experienced midfielder to the Ricoh Arena.
He said: "Lee has a track record as a winner. He is a leader and has played at the highest level and knows what is required to win on a regular basis.
"Any good team needs a balance of talent, experience, physical presence, pace and, obviously, footballing ability. I want Lee to be the glue that binds the team together because he has all of those."
Carsley is the fifth new signing at the Ricoh Arena so far this summer following the arrival of Gary McSheffrey, Roy O'Donovan, Stephen O'Halloran and Richard Keogh.
