Sky Blues swept aside at Bloomfield Road

Coventry City’s search for a first win on the road since their return to League One will take them to Gillingham on Saturday after another fruitless result at Blackpool on Tuesday night.

Goals from Mark Cullen and Joe Dodoo in the second half swept the Sky Blues aside - it was another game too where a goal threat was a real problem.

Tangerines forward Mark Cullen flicked the ball beyond the onrushing Liam O’Brien after a cross from Ollie Turton on the left just moments after the restart.

O’Brien was left red-faced in the closing stages as Dodoo beat him to the ball on a counter attack and the winger finished into an empty net.

That, frustratingly, was just as the visitors were beginning to build up a head of steam thanks to the introduction of substitutes Jordy Hiwula and Tony Andreu, but their efforts were to no avail.

On a positive note Luke Thomas did, however, look promising as he completed 90 minutes for the first time since his loan move from Derby County.

There are injury concerns over Max Biamou and Jordan Shipley, who both needed replacing at different times of the match, but goals need to be sourced, and fast, ahead of the trip to Kent on Saturday.
