Max Biamou ends his drought and Marc McNulty bags a brace in impressive win

Max Biamou finally scored his first league goal to spark Coventry City to an impressive victory over the best travelling side in the division.

And what a fitting way for the Sky Blues to take the lead at the Ricoh Arena with a sensational Cyrille Regis-esque strike into the top corner from the current No.9 on a day when the club and fans paid their respects to the legendary powerhouse No.9.

Marc McNulty increased the lead five minutes later from a 21st minute penalty against Swindon Town, sending former Coventry keeper Reice Charles-Cook the wrong way on his first return to the Ricoh Arena.

However, the Robins pulled one back from before half-time when Ollie Banks slid in on the end of a low cross to the six-yard box before Lee Burge pulled off a brilliant save to deny Luke Norris an equaliser ahead of the break.

Burge came to the rescue again midway through the second half as City were forced to defend and block their goal amid a determined fight-back from the

in-form promotion rivals who forced Mark Robins’s men to defend deeper and deeper.

But McNulty eased the pressure and secured the win with a superb solo effort, curling round the keeper from the edge of the D nine minutes from time to confirm the Robins’ first defeat at the Ricoh Arena in six visits.

The 3-1 win moved Coventry back into the play-off places to sixth and completed a league double over Town, whom they beat 2-1 earlier in nthe season away from home.
